Crushing on Color: Abby from A Delightful Design

Todays fabulous Crushing on Color post is from

Hi friends!  It's Abby from A Delightful Design.
I'm a huge fan of Anne-Marie and so excited to be here!

Beyond any other color, I am the most drawn to blue.

It could be because I grew up with Lake Huron as my back yard.

I truly believe that what you're surrounded with
as a child has an effect you--
even color.

Blue looks amazing with every color.  It can calm and it can energize.

I have yet to meet a blue wallpaper I didn't love.

More blue prettiness.
Although I can't decide if it's the blue and pink combination
or the light fixture I'm drawn to.
Both!

Four years ago I painted our living room Boca Raton Blue by Benjamine Moore.

It was a crazy time in our life.

Afterwards, someone mentioned that blue is the color of the throat chakra
I know nothing about chakras but found it interesting that this color
all relates to how we express ourselves with our voice.

Even years later this is my favorite room.

Doesn't it look fabulous with orange?!

My next step?
 Going glossy with blue.
We are moving in the next couple months and I'm dying to try this.

I hope you enjoyed these little pieces of me and my passion for blue!

Abby

it's classic, but never stuffy,
polished but not overdone.

in your soon-to-be-found-perfect-home :)

Crushing On Color: Elle from SWITCHEROOm

The third Crushing On Color post is from
the fearless
Elle of SWITCHEROOm.

Hey, 10 Rooms readers, I'm Elle from SWITCHEROOm

When Anne-Marie emailed me for a guest post about favorite colors, I was thrilled and confused. Confused because I was racking my brain for my current favorite color and I can't decide on one! There's just a lot of gorgeous color out there that I can't possibly narrow it down.

So I decided to just do a little time line of the colors that swept me off my feet from childhood 'til now.

Kid: PINK

Yeah, what a cliche! Most of little girl's dream color, myself included.
My room experienced some pink overload, from the paint, to the blinds, and even the bedding!

Teenager: BLUE

At this point, I feel a bit grown-up and put my pink obsession aside.
My rebellious mind thought that pink are for kids, "What pink?? EEW."
So I head over the other side of the color wheel and focus on blue.
Painted my room sky blue.

Almost Adult: Lime & Orange

I tried to combine two colors at this stage of my color life.
I felt so experimental -silly me!
Those two are just fun to look at and so energizing.
Again, painted my room this combination!

Now:  A LOT!!

My knowledge and taste expands and I learn to appreciate a lot of colors.
I'm now back to loving pink (it's not just for kids!),
and I'm in awe of different color combination I see around the web.
I think any color can be fabulous if done right.

Here are my current color crushes:

Bright colors against crisp white surroundings

Yellow and Grey

Turquoise (In all shades and form!)

Here are some of the colors we have around our house:

See? I told you I love a lot of colors!

Thank you so much Anne-Marie for having me here,
truly enjoyed going down my color memory lane!

Elle

Thanks Elle!
You have one of the most most interesting,
original styles I've seen.
Most people are afraid of color and have to be coerced into bits of brights -
but you happily frolick in a rainbow of hues,
ignoring the rules, following your heart -
and that makes your house a stand-out.

Drop by Elle's blog, SWITCHEROOm,
because you never know what this gal is up to.

Our next Crushing on Color post is thursday,
and trust me,
you won't want to miss this magically beautiful post...

Crushing On Color: Brittany from Gallery No 8

The second post in the Crushing on Color series
is brought to you by
Brittany of Gallery No. Eight.

Morning everyone!
and I'm so excited to be sharing my favourite colour with you today!

Anne-Marie is one of the loveliest people I have met since I started blogging
and I was thrilled when she asked me to guest post on her blog!
Her posts are always so bright and colourful and lovely :)

I probably never would have picked navy blue as my favourite colour
a few months ago, but since I've started blogging,
I've noticed that it just keeps popping up in my posts!

When I find a room or home that I just absolutely adore,
it almost always has some blue in it.

My favourite 'blue home' is
Fiona Douglas' of Bluebellgray.

I love the colours she used on her walls
(Farrow & Ball  "Pitch Blue" & "Dix Blue"),
and all the beautiful accents that have some blue in them :)

Some of my other favourite blue rooms include these two:

I love the look of crisp white trim and furniture against the deep blue walls!

I also love little navy accents in a space:

I've picked some of my favourite navy pieces from Etsy,
just in case you want to add a little blue to your home too :)

Hope you enjoyed my little tour of blue :)

Can't wait to see what everyone else has come up with!!

Thanks so much for having me Anne-Marie!
Hope you all have a lovely day :)

xo,
B

Brittany, great post - thank you!
Your viewpoint is always entertaining and genuine,
which makes for such a good read.

Navy is one of my all-time favourites, as well -
I like it dark and sultry, bordering on black.
And the art from JKL Design on Etsy?
She is fabulous!
Have to get one of her pieces into my space.

Stop by on Saturday for the next guest blogger
Crushing on Color post...
it's a rainbow of inspiration!

Crushing on Color: Julie from Brown Eyed Belle

Kicking off the Crushing on Color series is

Audrey Hepburn has given me some of the greatest advice over the years.

Living in a perfectly pink world with a smile on my face
and occasionally locking lips with a handsome beau-
does it truly get any better than that?!

Hi, everyone!
and lover of all things pink and girlie.
When Anne Marie invited me over to post
for her "Crushing on Color" series
I was giddy with delight and
knew exactly what I wanted to share with her readers!

I'm one of those girls who loves to have a little pink
in her routine everyday- any way I can get it.
For me, there is no color that says pretty, happy and glamorous quite like it.

For those of you, like me, who already enjoy daily doses of pink, enjoy!
And for those who don't, well,
I would like to think that I'm opening your world to beautiful new things!

Thank you so much, Anne-Marie for having me over today!
I hope you all enjoyed my pink color crush!

You can visit me anytime over at my place.
I'd love to have you!

xoxo

Julie

Where to begin?!

What a lovely post, Julie.
Your Audrey Hepburn quote says it all,
life is about love, and happiness,
and what better color to represent that than pink?

Pink is such a romantic color,
I actually chose to wear a blush pink wedding dress!
(and shoes, lol)

Visit Julie's blog, Brown Eyed Belle
for a delightful girly escape from reality.

Thursday post is all about another color that's near and dear to my heart,
and seems to be emerging as a bit of a star these days..
