Yay! It's done! Celebrating with a GIVEAWAY!

Between color consultations, those dandelions
and building the new website I've been away from blogging for a bit...

I miss reading about your exploits :)
There's going to have to be a day in the near future filled with tea and blog reading...

But, BIG NEWS,  as of today the site is officially launched, WOOHOO!!!

since you aren't here to share the wine, figs and prosciutto,
I thought maybe you'd like to try out one of my new online color consultations...

I'll help you choose paint colors for any room in your house, and it's on me :)

In order to win, just follow the blog, and check out the new 10 Rooms Design headquarters...
then come back and give me your feedback!

Please be honest,
if you think there's something that needs changing,
just tell me..

it's not like I spent hours on the design...
sweating each link and picture, engrossed in color and font choices, lol!

But really, if it could be more functional or pretty I do actually want to know :)

pics from here here here

The comments will be open until next Monday, May 30 and Tuesday I'll post the winner..

Hope you guys are having a fabulous day - x

Artist: Sally King Benedict

Lately I've been craving neutrals with a pop of color....

and the work of Sally King Benedict has captured me.

a softer take on geometrics, these canvasses live and breathe movement,
offering up a gorgeous study of color and form...

beautiful, non?

I could spend all day cruising art sites, really.
But not today -  off to the city for a girls day of shopping with Tash!

It's tradition for us to spend a day down there each spring...
this year she has birthday money and it's burning a hole in her pocket :)

time to visit our favourite spots..

Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend - x

New Art from The Darlings

**Proud Mama alert!**

The kids school had an art show last week, and all three of my little darlings participated.

Mother's Day the goodies came home....

I think these need frames, right?!

Cam's mug says
"Mom - you are nice and respectful to us", lol...
that's the catholic school rules coming out!

Nothing better than waking up to a huge Starbucks chai latte and three giggling kids holding their handmade treasures.

D gave me a sappy card and shoes - perfection!
I'm not sure what I did to deserve a man who appreciates handbags and shoes,
but he completely gets it :)

These are from Aldo, and they are the affordable, comfortable version
of Hasbeens that I'd been looking for.
If you want to hop on the clogs look, grab these ones - seriously, you'll LOVE them!
I'm going back to get the black ones.

Okay, and I bought my self a present, as well -
found this little vintage avon pitcher at the thrift shop and despite the fact that it's not at all what I would normally bring home, couldn't put it down!

I wish it was a vase rather than a pitcher, but the COLOR -
it's like jade was swirled in milk.

Luscious!
Since it really doesn't have a home,
I think my master bedroom really should be re-decorated to match, hehehe...

The Divine Soaker

I love it when a room surprises me.

How wonderful would it be to turn a corner and find this tucked away in your bath?

sigh.

Crushing On Color: Carissa from The Fabulous Design File

Crushing on Color is a guest blogger series where those with fabulous style
reveal their favourite color to us.

The original series of posts ran when I was on vacation this spring,
and since you all loved them so much, I thought it should become a regular feature on the blog.

Carissa, of The Fabulous Design File, definitely has fabulous style!

I met her this past winter through the Great Clean Out
and greatly admire this ladies DIY prowress -

check out her posts about painting this rug, making this light,
or my favourite, her witty take on subway art...

amazing right?!!

Without further ado: Carissa.

When Anne-Marie asked me to contribute to this series
I emailed her back to see if ‘black & white’ counted because that’s my latest obsession.

Then I thought about it a bit more,
and decided to devote this post to my all-time favourite color crush...

RED.

It’s been my favourite color for as long as I can remember even having a favourite color!

I admire iconic designer David Hicks’ take on red...

“ All reds go together , and I include both pink and orange in the red family."

Look at these red Hicks rooms... aren't they amazing???

Admittedly, not everyone can live with an all-out red room,
but there is something to be said for a touch of red
to inject a bit of energy, drama, and excitement to the...

living room:

dining room:

bedroom:

powder room:

office:

hall:

And of course... you can’t go wrong with red here:

Is anyone else crushing on red lately?

Thanks Anne-Marie for letting me share my color crush today!

Thanks Carissa! Loved the post!
Red has the most power of any, and it's not for the timid,
but used well, the energy and vitality red brings to a space can't be matched...
and scarlett lips are every woman's secret weapon, yes?

Looking forward to seeing how your family room turns out!

Keep watching for the next Crushing on Color post,
you never know who'll turn up 'round here :)

A Moment for Mum...

Dinner at a friends tonight so one of these is in the oven...

heading out in the sunshine with D and Cam to assemble six ENORMOUS boxes of bits into this...

Wish us luck!

I know these plastic ones are so very practical, but really -
that's going to require some major landscaping to blend in out there, isn't it?

I feel some backyard posts coming on!

Tomorrow we're off to visit the Mum's.

We always bring them each three baskets of flowers, one from each little darling..

such a small gift for such wonderful women.

But how can you ever properly thank someone
for loving, encouraging and caring for you your entire life?

To all you Mum's out there...

hope you spend tomorrow surrounded by what's dearest to your heart -
 your children - x
